Description

Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program that reduces youth suicide through education, training, and peer intervention. Join us for a meeting for parents and community members who are looking to engage in uplifting and empowering our youth to both recognize suicidal behaviors and to reduce mental health stigma. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hope Squad is a school-based peer-to-peer, suicide prevention program for students that was established in 1999 in an effort to reduce the stigma of talking about mental health. Hope Squad members are students nominated by peers as trustworthy classmates and are trained to identify at-risk students, provide friendship and seek help from an adult. Over 30,000 students in 35+ states belong to Hope Squads, having referred over 5,000 students to mental health resources. The Northland Coalition is a dedicated group of volunteers that are commited to fighting the devastating effects of alcohol and drug abuse in our schools and communities. Keeping our youth safe, healthy and drug-free takes the whole community.  We hope you will join us in our efforts!
