Celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the beginning of UMMA with us! It's going to be a great night at the 2021 UMMA Hall of Fame Reception. There will be Food, Recognition, Fellowship and review of our purpose as the United Minority Media Association gets together for our 45th anniversary. This will be a great opportunity to shake hands with our Hall of Fame inductees, other members and guests. For more information, please contact MC Richardson, our CEO and Founder at 816.822.8866 or Chayanne Hubbard on Facebook. The United Minority Media Association, Inc., U.M.M.A. was founded by M.C. Richardson on May 11, 1974 and incorporated in the state of Missouri on August 28, 1974. Tim Richardson contributed numerous ideas in the formation of the organization. UMMA had the assistance of 21 charter members pooling their ideas and resources to provide services for the betterment of the minority community, establishing a network system among minorities in media and initiated a seven year media career awareness seminars in junior and senior high schools in the central city of Kansas City, Missouri. In 1976, the membership grew to 129 members, thus becoming the trendsetter and vehicle promoting positive images in the community as well as orientating the minority community on the interworkings of broadcast and print media. UMMA became an affiliate of the National Black Media Coalition (NBMN), home based in Washington, D.C. in 1982.
