Teaching Black communities to combat the forces of economic oppression and replace them with tools necessary to grow generational wealth Trenton NAACP, Operation Rebuild Trenton and the African American Cultural Collaborative presents: Building Wealth in Our Communities Financial Literacy Workshop The Legacy of Black Wall Street - 100th year anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre Panel 1 – Bad Spending Habits: Financially Irresponsible Discussing the pitfalls of spending paycheck to paycheck and the poor habits that limit opportunities to save. The focus of the discussion will be how attendees can break those habits and adopt practices that will help them attain a better quality of life. {Stable Employment, budgeting income and expenses, bank accounts, unnecessary spending, prioritizing and discipline, etc.} Presenter: Sheldene Millington Panel 2 – Credit Building Purpose is to instruct attendees on the advantages of building your credit. The panel will explore the concept of credit, its uses, and ways attendees can grow their credit score. Panelists: Robin Hall, Joanna Morrison Networking Lunch Mix and mingle with other young professionals, panelists, and special guests over lunch. Panel 3 – Investing and Insuring your Future The concepts of investing and insurance are often absent and or misunderstood in inner city communities. Therefore, the purpose of this panel will be to discuss the various ways you can invest from stocks purchases, 401K’s, IRAs, to options and beyond. The aim will also be to provide an overview of the various avenues of insurance and connect attendees with resources that will further their learning. Please note this panel is not designed to offer investment or insurance advice and such disclaimers will be made clear at the start of the discussion. Presenter: Kaneda Bullock Panel 4 – Wealth Building Through Ownership Wealth through ownership is often not practiced nor preached in communities of color. To that end, the purpose of this panel is to discuss the advantages of ownership and the various ways attendees can become owners in their communities and beyond in areas of homeownership and business ownership.
