WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington police recently received a $35,000 grant for road safety, according to a letter included in Tuesday's Board of Selectmen meeting agenda.
The state awarded the department a Fiscal Year 2022 Municipal Road Safety grant.
The Municipal Road Safety program is federally funded with $5 million and is meant to help reduce roadway crashes, injuries, fatalities, and their associated economic losses in Massachusetts.
All municipal police departments in the state were eligible for the grant program.
"Congratulations on this award and we thank you for the work you do to keep our Massachusetts roads safe for everything," Gov. Charlie Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito said in the letter informing the department of the grant.
