However, there's one exception — he's a member of the Oath Keepers, a "right-wing extremist group" with ties to the Jan 6. riots at the U.S. Capitol, the news outlet said. Wynkoop is running for Council Member Brad Lander's seat on the Conservative Party ticket, according to the Brooklyn Conservative Party's website. He's a systems engineer and a longtime member of the Oath Keepers — a group that takes its name from the oath to uphold the Constitution sworn by members of law enforcement and the military, Buzzfeed News reported.
