Hooters Raises Funds For Moffitt Cancer Center This October

TAMPA BAY, FL — During the entire month of October, Hooters is holding its annual "Give a Hoot" fundraising campaign. Donations at the 23 Hooters locations in Tampa Bay and Chicagoland will support Moffitt Cancer Center. There are multiple opportunities to support the cause including purchasing a 2022 Hooters Calendar. A dollar of every calendar sold helps fight breast cancer. Hooters Management Corp.'s employees that are in this year's calendar include: Gracie Chamberlain (Brandon) Miss January; Ireland Dabydeen (John's Pass) Miss September; Auna Ferro (John's Pass) and Zelmara Zelaya (Chicago-O'Hare) are both featured on the November 2021 page. A total of 200 Hooters Girls from around the country are featured in the calendar. The calendars are available for purchase for $14.99 and include more than $100 in coupons. Ways the community can help and join their local Hooters restaurant in the fight against breast cancer include: $1 of every Hooters calendar sold locally supports Moffitt Cancer Center. Add their name to a personalized endowment card to hang up in the restaurant or take home. Purchase pink bracelets.Enjoy a "pink drink" created to raise awareness and funds."Pink up" their check when you visit Hooters. Add a cash or credit card donation to their check. Since 2002, Hooters Management Corp. has donated more than $912,905 to Moffitt Cancer Center. The program is held annually in honor of Hooters Management Corp.'s own Kelly Jo Dowd, who was a 1995 Hooters Calendar Cover Girl and ultimately the Palm Harbor restaurant general manager. Dowd died of breast cancer in 2007. Hooters has raised more than $7.2 million over time to support the fight against breast cancer, much of it through the Kelly Jo Dowd Breast Cancer Research Fund benefiting the V Foundation for Cancer Research. The donations are collected nationwide with grants honoring Kelly Jo to further her mission to educate all women, especially her extended family consisting of some 300,000 current and former Hooters girls, about the importance of early detection and prevention.
