Description
MILWAUKEE COUNTY — A fish market that opened in 1950 will close on Oct. 22.
West Allis Fish Market, 5909 W. Burnham St., announced on Facebook that it will shut its doors because of increased costs and a lack of availabile products and supplies, according to a Facebook post.
The market is a carryout business that offers bulk items, plates, buckets, sandwiches and sides, according to the market's website.
Jim and Bev Rogge of Wauwatosa have owned the market for 28 years, the post said.
"The business itself has been a fixture in West Allis, patronized by many loyal customers for over 70 years," the post said. "Our goal has always been to provide a quality product at a fair price."
The thought of not seeing familiar faces is "disheartening," the business said, thanking patrons for coming into the market over the years.
