Description
Join four area college athletic directors for a hard-hitting look at the ever-changing business of college sports The Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame has partnered with Lighthouse, An Alera Group Company, for the ninth consecutive year to host the Economic Symposium, an event focused on the economic outlook of the coming year – and this year with an athletic twist! The 2021 symposium will discuss the crossover of business and college sports, particularly regarding the new Name/Image/Likeness ruling and its impact on athletes and universities across the country, as well as here in West Michigan. Additional topics of discussion include the never-ending carousel of changes in leagues, levels, and associations, why youth sports are changing college recruiting, and the future of college athletic budgets. Subject matter experts include Nick Davidson, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Athletics (Aquinas College), Aaron Sagraves, Director of Athletics (Cornerstone University), Tim Schnooveld, Director of Athletics (Hope College), and Jim Timmer, Director of Athletics (Calvin University). The event will be hosted on Wednesday, November 10 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM at Lighthouse’s downtown office location. Registration is free and breakfast is included. Students and community members are welcome – but capacity is limited! Register here. *insert link* “The business and economics of college athletics is a topic of great interest to many of our clients and associates,” said Lighthouse Managing Partner, Tom Helmstetter, “We are delighted to provide the local perspective for the West Michigan business community.” The Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame honors prominent West Michigan athletes as well as those who have contributed greatly to sports on a local, state or national level.
