Description

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The state Municipal Election is Tuesday, Nov. 2. Patch contacted candidates to answer questions about their campaigns. Democrat Amy Casey, 45, is running for Ridgefield Board of Education in Ridgefield. Occupation: Community Volunteer, Mom Of Four Elementary Children Family:Tom (husband) and four children in elementary school Experience: Ridgefield Arts Council since 2015 Family in government: No. The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: As a Board of Education candidate I have no personal agenda. I believe there are many issues of importance to RPS families and our community. On the BOE, I will be a crusader for all children to benefit from evidence-based programming, to be supported in mental/emotional well-being, and I will support policies that advance our curriculum in a fiscally responsible way. Critical differences between me and my opponents: I am the mom of four elementary school students! I have a background in science, education, and finance. I am dedicated to being an objective, open-minded collaborator on the BOE. My focus will be on creating policies based on facts, policies that will improve and support all students, and policies that include creating fiscally responsible school budgets. Accomplishments: As a public school teacher, I combined whole child development with individualized instruction, and learned the importance of evidence-based programming. I worked at a school where the word "collaboration" was part of its name and where collaborating was a way of life. As an equities trader on the floor of the stock exchange, I made sophisticated, time-sensitive decisions based on data. I have conducted marine science research all over the country and I have volunteered all over the world. I administered Fulbright Grants, where I learned the importance of every dollar in the educational experience. In Ridgefield, I am devoted to community service: As a member of the Ridgefield Arts Council since 2015, I manage the Council's Arts Scholarship, so I understand the impact of arts on our youth. The BOE is a natural extension of my passions, and background and experience. What else would you like voters to know about you? To find out more about me, please visit our campaign website.
