ARLINGTON, VA — Commuters traveling in the area of the Pentagon Tuesday morning encountered delays as police investigated and rendered a suspicious package safe near the Pentagon Transit Center, according to posts on the Pentagon Force Protection Agency's official Twitter account.
PFPA officers on routine patrol in the South parking lot of the Pentagon spotted a suspicious object. Traffic to the area was immediately blocked to allow PFPA's Hazardous Device Unit to investigate.
HDU rendered the device safe around 6:50 a.m. and the all clear was given at 7:35 a.m, account to the PFPA.
Traffic resumed access to the parking and the Pentagon. Police say there is no longer a threat to the Pentagon or the surrounding area, according to a report from ABC7 News.

There is no threat to the Pentagon and surrounding area.
