LONGMONT, CO — A postal employee was shot and killed Wednesday in Longmont, and a suspect remains at large. The U.S. Postal Service worker was delivering mail to mailboxes around 12:30 p.m. near Heatherhill Street and Renaissance Drive when they were shot multiple times by a masked suspect, police said. The worker died at the scene. Law enforcement officers went door-to-door during the search for the suspect, police said. A K-9 team was deployed during the search, but was unsuccessful. A suspect was seen running south on Renaissance Drive wearing a hoodie, dark clothing and a blue mask, police said. No further details about the suspect were available. Five schools in the area were under a shelter-in-place order, but they were reopened several hours later. The identity of the worker has not been released. Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty asked residents in the area to offer as much possible information to investigators.
