HOUSTON, TX — Former Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo's tenure in Miami is likely coming to an end just six months after taking the position.
Acevedo was suspended pending termination by Miami City Manager Art Noriega Monday night, according to the Miami Herald.
The move comes after two circus-like public hearings where city commissioners slammed Acevedo for several recent missteps, according to the report.
Most recently, Acevedo received scrutiny for joking that the Miami Police Department was run by the "Cuban Mafia," a term the late Fidel Castro used to describe Miami exiles for opposing his dictatorship.
