SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Residents of San Clemente, why don't you start your weekend fun a day early? The Carnival Colossal & Food Truck Festival will open its grounds Thursday at Vista Hermosa Sports Park, and this the event features live music, gourmet food trucks and super discounted tickets. The event is hosted by The Friends of San Clemente Foundation in partnership with the San Clemente Beaches, Parks and Recreation Department and features a little something for everyone, from exciting carnival rides to live musical entertainment. On Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the carnival will host "slow and low" rides for families with special needs children and little ones. Between these hours, the carnival rides will be operate at a lower sound and speed. This year's carnival will also host the Highland Strongman Competition, and on Saturday and Sunday, attendees can watch top international athletes displaying their skill and strength free of charge. For residents interested in buying discounted tickets in bulk, you're in luck. The Friends of San Clemente is offering a discounted book of eight tickets for $10, and residents can purchase the super-discounted tickets at a slew of locations, including: the San Clemente Aquatic Center at Vista Hermosa Sports Park, the Boys and Girls Club, the Parks Department at the Community Center and the Ole Hansen Beach Club. The Carnival Colossal & Food Truck Festival starts Thursday and runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Friday, the event runs from 5 p.m. to midnight, and on Saturday and Sunday the carnival continues from noon to midnight.
