Monrovia Celebrates 'OAKtober' With Sapling Giveaway

MONROVIA, CA — Monrovia is celebrating fall with an oak sapling giveaway to residents of the Foothill communities. The saplings will be available at Maryknoll Sisters Monrovia on certain days this month as part of the city's "OAKtober" celebration, officials said. The giveaways will be held on Oct. 16 at 10 a.m., Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. and Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. Six varieties of oak saplings will be available: Scrub, live, cork, Englemann, black and valley. The giveaway will also include a presentation on the benefits of oak trees and oak tree care, according to officials. Contact Grow Monrovia for more information about the giveaway.
