MISSION VIEJO, CA — Six dogs who nearly starved to death under the roof of a hoarder living in San Bernardino are up for adoption thanks to efforts from the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center and the Dedicated Animal Welfare Group, an organization that nurtures abused and neglected dogs. Dogs like Elsa, a one-year-old labrador-retriever mix, and Hans, a tan four-month-old chihuahua, are a few of the pups in search of a loving forever home. According to a statement released by the city of Mission Viejo, when the six dogs were recovered from their previous home, they showed apparent and obvious signs of neglect. The dogs were starving, and were terrified of people, strange noises, leashes and new experiences. Now that they've received the proper care they need to heal from their traumatic experiences, they are enjoying attention and learning to walk, play and live as healthy dogs. "We are thrilled to say that they are now ready to find their permanent homes," Animal Services Manager Michelle Claud-Clemente said in the statement. "Although they still require special attention, we are sure that with love, patience, and consistency, they will continue making improvements every day."
