JOLIET, IL — Joliet police arrested two men following Tuesday night's armed robbery at the Red Roof Inn on McDonough Street. The victim went to the Red Roof Inn to meet a woman through an online dating application, according to police. "The victim went to a room, but no one had answered the door. When the victim was walking back to his vehicle, he was robbed by two male suspects," Joliet police reports show. Joliet police said that 26-year-old Sherron Reed was arrested on charges of armed robbery, aggravated battery, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated battery to a peace officer, escape and resisting/obstructing a peace officer. Another Joliet resident, 30-year-old Joshua Kennedy, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, Joliet police said. Joliet officers said the armed robbery occurred at 11:02 p.m. at 1750 McDonough St. The victim told officers he was robbed at gunpoint, and the robbers took his phone and wallet. One of the gunmen hit the victim in the head with his gun, police reports indicate. According to police, Reed, Kennedy and a woman were all inside the motel room where the victim went. "Officers received consent to search the room at which time they recovered two loaded 9 mm handguns and a loaded .22 caliber handgun," police spokesman Dwayne English stated. Officers searched Kennedy and found the victim's cell phone in his pocket, police said. After the two Joliet residents were arrested, and being taken back to the squad cars, Reed tried to run away while he was handcuffed, according to police. "Reed struggled with the officer on the ground and attempted to bite the officer on the arm," English indicated. "Officers were able to re-secure Reed, and he was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility without further incident." Joshua Kennedy was booked into the Will County Jail around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Mugshot via Will County
