HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. INCIDENTS HOME BURGLARY ATTEMPTOfficers who arrived at the scene of a home burglar alarm in the 2000 block of Hidden Ridge Lane around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 found a broken back glass patio door. The door had a hole of about 3 feet by 6 feet and the broken screen was laying beside it on the ground, but nothing was reported stolen from inside. HOME BURGLARYA resident in the 2500 block of Tennyson Lane reported around 8:30 p.m. Oct. 5 that someone had broken in to their home and rummaged through the interior, shattering two rear windows and stealing two gold rings worth about $1,000. TOOL THEFTPolice were told that someone hired to do paint and plaster work at a home in the 2900 block of Warbler Place stole a Makita brand handheld circular saw. SHOPLIFTINGAn unidentified man wearing a multi-colored sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black face mask stole four bottles of cough syrup from the Walgreens, 655 Elm Place, before running away east on Elm Place around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 8. ARRESTS/CITATIONS Gabriel Deita-Ortega, 33, of the 2700 block of Lauretta Place, Highland Park, was arrested around 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 23 on a warrant issued after he failed to appear in Lake County court in connection with a charged of aggravated driving under the influence. Rodney L. Holden, 56, of the first block of South Maple Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested around 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 5 and charged with misdemeanor criminal damage to vehicle after officers were dispatched to a call about someone who had damaged two cars parked in the 600 block of Laurel Avenue. Armando Hurtado-Pichardo, 52, of the 900 block of St Johns Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 and charged with unlawful restraint, a class 4 felony, and misdemeanor battery after officers were called to his block for a report that he was inappropriately touching a woman or girl.
