INDIAN HILLS, IL — A pedestrian struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run over the weekend has died, the Lake County Coroner's Office said Tuesday.
The pedestrian was identified as 22-year-old Wojciech Glowik, of Glenview. Coroner Jennifer Banek said the man died from blunt force trauma as a result of the crash.
Police are still searching for a white Audi SUV — the type of car that hit and killed Glowik. According to Lake Forest police, the vehicle will have damage to its front area and will likely be missing a passenger side mirror.
According to initial reports, Glowik was walking along the side of U.S. 45 in Indian Creek around 2:10 a.m. Saturday when he was hit by a car driving southeast. The driver sped away after hitting the man, police said.
Vernon Hills police responded to the scene and took Glowik to a local hospital, where he died on Monday, the coroner's office confirmed.
The Lake County sheriff's office asked anyone with information to contact them at 847-549-5200.
