GRESHAM, OR — A good year for Oregon means a good year for its residents. The state announced Tuesday that residents will get a rebate of 17.341 percent of their 2020 tax liability. The rebate, also known as a "kicker," happens when the Oregon's revenue is at least 2 percent greater than the state's forecasters had predicted. The state blew past that and ended up with a $1.9 billion surplus. Live in Gresham? Click here to subscribe to our free breaking news alerts delivered to your inbox and mobile devices. If you want to figure out what your kicker will be, multiply what you would owed before taking out credits last year and multiply it by 17.341 percent. Officials want people to remember several things: 1) If you have any state debt, Oregon can take your kicker payment to pay off the debt; 2) The kicker comes as a rebate on your 2021 taxes, not as a check or other form of payment to you.
