Summary: Crew Leaders at McCaren Designs, are responsible for leading and organizing Exterior Landscaping Maintenance and Install crews. They must be adept at time management and assisting in the planning and scheduling work crews. Also, the reporting progress of work sites projects and ensuring quality of work and compliance. Must possess effective communication skills. The Crew Leader will be excited about training and supporting their team members and be a highly motivated self-starter. Accountabilities Horticulture maintenance, Install training and route management Quality assurance and inspection Safety and Training issues Account issue reporting Route coverage due to technician absence Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Accountable for the upkeep and quality of work done on client sites. Relays the inbound questions, comments and/or concerns and reports them appropriately. Represents McCaren Designs in the capacity of a liaison between operations and Customers (may take requests for services, schedule service, keep clients informed on ongoing projects, as needed etc.). As the liaison the crew leader will relay information to management in a timely and consistent manner. Assist in the organizing and the receiving of materials to include but not limited to mulch, plants, trees, perennials, and flowers. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable communicating with crews, management, clients and vendors etc. Assist in the installation of Interiorscapes and Holiday décor as needed. Ability to work on ladders and in aerial lifts. Responsible for job site Safety. Must be comfortable using several types of software and technology. This may include but is not limited to: Computers, Smart Phones, Tables, Timekeeping Software, Scheduling software. Reports to Exterior Operations Manager Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, utilizing strong organizational, time management and prioritization and problem-solving. Ability to build strong relationships at all levels, displaying a pleasant and approachable demeanor. Consistent leadership skills; promoting professional work standards, teamwork and open communication. Knowledge of proper horticulture techniques; including but not limited to planting, pruning, watering, fertilizing and insect and disease control. Basic Mechanical knowledge. The ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and make small machine repairs. Core Values: Passionate Supportive Responsive Authentic Owns it Minimum Requirements: Prior experience Crew leading teams (1 or more years) Prior work experience in Exterior Landscape Maintenance and Installations. The understanding of irrigation systems. Clean Driving Record Proof of current and valid auto insurance Licenses and Certifications: Valid MN State Driver’s license Current MNDOT Physical card or the ability to obtain one Current MNDA Pesticide License/MNDA Commercial Operator Pesticide License (if not currently licensed, must obtain within 45 days of hire date) Physical Requirements: Frequent walking, talking, listening, squatting, stooping, bending, lifting, carrying, grasping, pushing, pulling etc. Specific vision abilities necessary include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus etc. May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions (rain, sun, cold etc.) for extended periods of time and/or field Environments performing outdoor work with moderate to occasional loud noise. Physically able to lift 75 pounds. This is a minimal description of duties and is not intended to describe, in detail, the multitude of tasks that may be assigned.
