Description
8 month old Anatolian Shepherd needs livestock guardian dog savvy owners who can give her a proper job!
Raised with lambs and beef cattle - we were told by her first owners she scared a bear out of the lamb pen at six months old.
Walks on a leash, sits, (usually đ) comes when called, allows feet, ears, muzzle to be handled. Not hostile to strangers. Not food aggressive. Got her to protect our goats and she gets along great with the kids, but despite our best efforts, the nanny goat still bullies her sometimes. We are unable to keep her safely away from the nanny got without keeping her on a part of the property that she can escape and easily get to the highway from - itâs not safe for her to get the off leash exercise a growing dog needs. She has to be penned alone for her safety more often than weâd like since she cannot be kept with the goats and is becoming bored and unhappy. We donât have the resources to get her a companion LGD or new, less aggressive livestock to guard.
She is so mild mannered we can keep her dog house next to the rabbit shed and she doesnât tease the rabbits. This pup has incredibly gentle instincts and with experienced owners who are looking for a willing to please young dog, should make a great livestock guardian. Must go to a capable home with fenced in property - ideally one with an older LGD that can show her the ropes. Or one with owners whoâve trained LGDs in the past. Will be screening prospective adopters. Reasonable adoption fee can be discussed in emails.
