Description
Scooter is a rescued 3 month old parakeet (budgie) with a case of scissorbill. This means that he was born with an upper and lower beak that are crooked, so the two parts don't grind evenly. This means his upper and lower beaks grow into long points, and need trimming every two weeks or so. It is not very difficult and I have been keeping it very well maintained with a pair of nail clippers. I got Scooter from someone who did not recognize the issue and would not have trimmed his beak which would eventually have left him unable to eat.
I am looking to rehome Scooter because I feel he needs to be with other parakeets and I do not have the time or means to adopt any more. He wants to play with my other birds, but none of them are parakeets and they do not like him.
Scooter is free to the right qualified adopter who can demonstrate they are willing and able to monitor his beak and trim the overgrown points as necessary. He is a very playful bird, and when I was working with him one on one, he quickly learned to step up and would eat millet on my hand. I have not worked with him in several weeks however.
Scooter has unclipped wings and is a very good flier in my house, never hitting any windows. I do not want him to be wing clipped.
He will come with toys and some food. I can even include a large bird cage for him without charge - to the right owner. He eats pellets, as his beak makes it hard to crack seeds. He is a very healthy eater and also loves vegetables.
Please text if you feel you can be the owner Scooter needs.
