Tis the season for a walk through one of Akron's most beautiful and historic cemeteries - Akron Rural Cemetery, known as Glendale Cemetery. Learn more about historic Akron and Summit County by taking a stroll past mausoleums and unique tombstones to view their art and understand the symbolism. See the final resting place of some of the area's early pioneers, founders and notable individuals. Tour group sizes are limited. This event is being presented by the Summit County Historical Society of Akron, OH and Glendale Cemetery Association. Please wear comfortable shoes as the landscape is uneven. Dress for the weather. Event will occur rain or shine. There is no restroom on the property. Founded in 1924, the mission of Summit County Historical Society, a 501(c)3 corporation, is to preserve and interpret the history of Summit County and Akron, and to educate regional communities about the people and events that have shaped our rich history.
