Description

I'm a male in my mid 30's and I'm trying to do a few things. I'm trying to get back in shape, I'm trying to learn something new, and I'm trying to ameliorate some health issues all by taking some swimming lessons. I'm looking for someone not only deeply experienced with swimming (perhaps a former member of a high school or college swim team or something) but also capable of communicating the ideas and concepts of swimming. Someone capable of teaching, being patient, understanding how hard to push a student, when to push, when not to push, etc. You can know how to do something very well, but knowing how to teach something you know is totally different and pretty rare in my experience. So, yeah, also it would be good if you were somewhat flexible on the meet up times since I don't keep a regular schedule. Pretty sure I'd mostly want to meet up during the afternoon hours--maybe 11AM to 3PM--since I figure that's when the pool would be most empty (people at work, kids at school) and I'd have the fewest distractions. However, nighttime or mornings can probably work too if those are the hours you're available. I can do a few hours every few days a week or so--maybe 4-6 hours total per week--for a few weeks. So yeah, might not wind up paying all that much ultimately, but if you could use the extra cash, I could definitely use the lessons. My current swimming capability is such that I already know how to get from one end of a pool to the other pretty well, but if I were in a boat that capsized in a large body of water, I'd almost certainly drown. I don't really know how much to offer for something like this, but $30 per hour seems fair to me. However, if you're like a former Olympian or super highly qualified and you're interested but you feel like you're qualifications justify higher compensation, just contact me and we'll see what we can work out.
