MILWAUKEE, WI — A Milwaukee man was found guilty by a jury last week on charges stemming from a road rage shooting incident on southbound Interstate 94 in 2019. Jomuel Lozano-Martinez was convicted on Oct. 6 of endangering public safety by use of a dangerous weapon, first degree recklessly endangering safety while armed and possession of a firearm by a felon, Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. The shooting took place on a segment of southbound I-43/I-94 that on average in 2019 saw over 130,000 cars per day. The other driver, who was headed to work, was not injured. Police said the man, who initially pleaded not guilty, fired a handgun at another car when traveling southbound on interstate 94/43 near Rosedale Avenue and the Kinnickinnic River in Milwaukee, Fox 6 reported. "We've seen too many road rage incidents that reflect a callous disregard for others. Hopefully Mr. Lozano Martinez's conviction will serve as a notice to those who would recklessly use firearms that this behavior will not be tolerated," Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas said. Lozano-Martinez had previously been convicted for armed robbery, the news release said. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 29.
