Description

BAY SHORE, NY— The Town of Islip razed what they say was an "unsafe, derelict and abandoned Bay Shore property" on Tuesday. The house was located at 41 West Lane. According to Redfin, the last time the property sold was in 1993 for $256,000. By Tuesday afternoon the house was demolished and a crew was bulldozing the site. Islip Town officials held a press conference during the morning demolition. The town has been committed to razing "ghost houses" or abandoned and unsafe structures in recent years, citing concerns about illegal activity, property values and the eyesore factor of unmaintained properties.
