PURCELLVILLE, VA — Racial slurs and sexual comments were made during a fight in Purcellville over the weekend, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. After the altercation, one man was arrested and charged with assault while two other men were charged with drunk in public, authorities said. A fight was reported to authorities around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 in the 20 block of . The fight involved three men from Rockingham County and "several" underaged teenagers, according to a report from the sheriff's office. "During the interaction, the suspects reportedly used racial slurs and sexual comments," the sheriff's office wrote in their report on Tuesday. "Further words were exchanged between the two groups and one of the suspects and one of the teenaged juveniles were involved in a physical altercation. At this time, the family of the juvenile victim has declined to pursue charges involving the physical altercation." Eventually, an adult man in the area intervened. Authorities claimed that the man was then assaulted by one of the suspects. The intervening man was later identified as an off-duty federal law enforcement officer, according to the sheriff's office report. He was charged with assault after he was accused of striking the off-duty officer. He was also charged with being drunk in public. Two other men, a 19-year-old from Broadway and a 19-year-old from Harrisonburg, were also charged with being drunk in public. No major injuries were reported in the altercations, according to the sheriff's office.
