Here are the top stories in Burlington today: Potentially dangerous cyanobacteria blooms are continuing into autumn this year and people need to be careful when using Vermont waterways, the Health Department says. The blooms are usually reported during the summer, but in recent years they have been reported as late as November. Data shows over the last 50 years, the water temperatures in Lake Champlain have increased by 2 degrees to 7 degrees, extending the warm season for several weeks. (ABC 10) Burlington city leaders are still trying to figure out how to manage a homeless encampment on city property in the South End after no one applied for the job. Last month, the city put out a request for proposals with the goal of finding people to help manage the Sears Lane homeless encampment. Some neighbors were not happy with the improvement plans, sharing concerns about safety and cleanliness at the site. The city said having oversight would increase safety at the encampment.
