Press release from Klein Independent School District: Jessica Williams Oct 12, 2021 The Foundation for Music Education, a national foundation dedicated to supporting and advancing music education, recently released their 2021 Mark of Excellence award winners list, which included eight Klein ISD music programs.  Of the approximately 13,800 public school districts nationwide, Klein ISD is ranked #1 in the nation for the total number of intermediate schools honored and #2 in the nation for the total number of programs honored overall.  These new accolades from The Foundation for Music Education add to Klein ISD's long history of excellence in the arts, including being named a Best Communities for Music Education for 10 consecutive years. "It is no surprise that the Klein ISD Fine Arts Department is garnering another national recognition for the exceptional talent and drive our students and educators display every day," said Jenny McGown, Klein ISD Superintendent. "I am beyond thrilled to see the hard work and dedication of these wonderful individuals be returned with tenfold as we continue our tradition of excellence in Klein ISD." The Foundation for Music Education Mark of Excellence awards consist of the National Wind Band Honors, National Choral Honors, National Orchestra Honors, National Jazz Honors, and National Percussion Ensemble Honors. Klein ISD was honored with four National Winners and four Commended Winners this year. "To have eight groups recognized out of over 236 of the finest ensembles from over 38 states is an incredible accomplishment! These accolades are a direct reflection of the resilience and dedication to excellence in fine arts that our students and educators display each and every day," said Creston Herron, Director of Fine Arts. "We are incredibly proud of the level of excellence that is achieved through the collaboration and focus on innovation by our educators and students." This prestigious honor has reaffirmed the hard work of our students and fine arts educators. "Our kids always give 1000% regardless of the circumstances. One of the most beautiful things about orchestra is that it requires each individual to set everything aside and contribute to something bigger than themselves, all for the purpose of sharing the final work of art with a community that will listen," said Sundas Mohi, Klein Cain Orchestra Director. "It's amazing to be an educator in a community that values and supports fine arts the way Klein ISD does. Texas is well-known as being a state where fine arts are top-notch, and Klein ISD is one of the best places to receive the best fine arts education around."
