Press release from the City of Portland: October 12, 2021 The City is also relaunching the Microenterprise Grant Program which has increased eligibility to businesses in two ways: small businesses that opened after the pandemic started in March 2020 are now eligible to apply, as well as businesses with 0-3 employees. The Microenterprise Program offers grants up to $5,000 for businesses whose owners are low/moderate income. This program does not have a deadline for applications as they will be accepted when received. Portland businesses are encouraged to apply early since funds remaining for this program are limited.    More information about these programs and the application process are available at portlandmaine.gov/BusinessFinancing. The Job Creation Grant is funded with the City of Portland's Community Development Block Grant through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
