Description
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Victory Banquet Hall in Homewood was raided Friday and by the Nuisance Bar Task Force, then shut down by the Allegheny County Health Department.
The hall was found to be open and operating without a valid health permit, serving food from an unknown source, improperly storing food, having inadequate facilities to maintain food temperatures, having inadequate hand washing facilities and lacking a certified food protection manager.
The task force confiscated the hall's non-fixed assets.
The task force is a joint effort of the city fire and police bureaus, the county District Attorney's Office, the health department and Pennsylvania Liquor Control Licensing and Enforcement. Its purpose is to rid the city of nuisance bars and establishments.
According to the nuisance bar complaint form, noise, loitering crowds, narcotic sales, gambling, prostitution, lewd behavior, disorderly conduct, garbage, sale of liquor to minors, street crime and harassment are among the many problems caused by nuisance bars.
The health department previous ordered the Bennett Street banquet hall closed last November for operating without a health permit.
