Press release from Lakewood City School District: October 5, 2021 Congratulations to Emerson Elementary 5th grader Cooper Haettich on earning the title of Lakewood Junior Fire Chief! The Junior Chief is chosen from among all District 5th graders through an essay contest on the Fire Prevention Week topic of the year, which for 2021 was "Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety." Cooper's essay was chosen as the best for Lakewood. As is tradition, the new Junior Fire Chief was given a special ride to school in a fire engine truck. Cooper also read his winning essay at the annual Firefighter Recognition Ceremony held on October 3. Congrats again, Cooper! This press release was produced by Lakewood City School District.
