Mason, Ohio (October 6, 2021) – Nicole Wetzel was awarded Chef of the Year by Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in Miamisburg, OH, and was recently promoted to general manager at Firebirds in Mason. “Nicole inspired her team in Miamisburg as executive chef, and she continues to do so as general manager of our Mason location,” CEO Steve Kislow said. “She is a talented, natural born leader and is committed to the satisfaction of our guests.” An Ohio native, Wetzel grew up in Bellbrook and has 15 years of culinary experience. She started her restaurant journey as a teen at Marions Pizza. Wetzel was later hired as an assistant manager at Bob Evans and went on to serve in various chef roles at Applebees, Red Robin and Mimi’s Café. In 2017 Wetzel began her Firebirds career in Miamisburg as sous chef and was promoted to executive chef in 2018.
