Description

Population policies are necessary to reduce humanity's impact on nature and save ourselves from ecological catastrophe. The ever-worsening problem of climate change is a valid reason to discuss how to limit the world population. Since there is no doubt that the human population is currently expanding at the cost of other species on Earth and the toll it takes on many ecosystems, it seems quite clear that the current human population size is problematic from any ecocentric perspective. I = (PAT) is the mathematical notation of a formula put forward to describe the impact of human activity on the environment. I = P × A x T The expression equates human impact on the environment to a function of three factors: population (P), affluence (A), and technology (T). It is similar in form to the Kaya identity, which applies specifically to emissions of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide. Therefore, population policies based on an ecocentric approach must be politically and militarily enforced and be ends-oriented on a global scale. The flourishing of human life and cultures is compatible with a substantially rapid decrease in the human population, and the flourishing of nonhuman life requires such a decrease. An international body of government has an obligation directly or indirectly to implement the necessary changes and see that these policies are enforced by all means necessary. These changes must address manufacturing, production, and energy resource limits and place strict limitations on biological reproduction. Such approaches can easily be implemented and enforced via series of policies in taxations and legal statutes, similar to those used in China. We must support President Biden's "Environmental Justice For All Act" and the United Nations "2030 Sustainable Development" plan in its "Build Back Better" policy agenda. The United States currently lags behind the strides China has made in leading the world toward this achievement. Therefore, the United States must fulfill its obligations to the UNFCCC Paris Agreement and contribute its agreed financing that the Trump administration unlawfully withheld. The future of the planet depends on our achieving this goal. Republicans must be willing to join the Democrats in passing this into law and stop contributing toward the destruction of our world. Call your representatives and demand that they pledge their unwavering support for the Biden Administration's Environmental Justice For All Act. Remember, together, we can "BUILD BACK BETTER!"
