Description

Press release from the University of Alaska Anchorage: October 12, 2021 Last year, we held a program called the Cultural Identity Project, an Elder-led program at UAA. The program incorporated storytelling from Elders; hands-on cultural activities; discussion and connection with other Alaska Native students, staff, and faculty; exploration of cultural identity; and documentation and sharing of cultural identity and strengths. A total of 44 Alaska Native undergraduate students participated in the program at UAA during the last academic year, and the program had a positive effect on students' cultural identity development, cultural strengths, wellbeing and sense of community at the university. We invite you to join us to learn more about the Cultural Identity Project, its impact and next steps. Join us on Zoom.
