Description
Looking for a relaxed group of neighbors to jam and make friends?
We have a regular group that jams (mostly just covers) usually on Sunday nights over beers in a backyard, generally all-acoustic/unplugged. It's NOT high-quality musical art - think of us more like long-term beginners, folks who've been playing maybe for years or decades. A couple of folks have serious busking or gigging experience but we are the antithesis of serious. Just enjoying playing together over some simple song of 3-5 chords, letting each other try new instruments and techniques, encouraging folks to try new things and learn, etc.
We can use someone who's comfortable leading a few songs (think 2-5 songs per night, singing and playing rhythm) and who's comfy holding a solid rhythm to guide and encourage others. Your precise instrument isn't important and we have spares on hand for many. A normal night for us includes 2-4 guitars, a cello, cajon hand drum, sometimes a ukelele, mandolin, or violin/fiddle, and some of those guitarists taking a spin on harmonica, mandolin, banjo, etc. It would be cool if you play hand drums, or hold rhythm on any stringed instrument like guitar, uke, etc. - if you enjoy dabbling in some other instruments for texture or leads, that's even more awesome.
We're not too genre-specific but we tend towards old-guy country and folk like John Prine, Johnny Cash, James Taylor, Van Morrison; 90s rock like Cake, Guns & Roses, Nirvana; pop like Adele or Amy Winehouse; and we're always open to Motown, reggae, oldies, surf, new pop, country, etc.
If this sounds like a vibe you're into or if you're a beginner and this is the direction you want to go, hit me up. Open to all ages - we keep it family-friendly.
Location is near Backesto Park, almost always Sunday evening (not every week, might try Saturday afternoons in winter to avoid evening chill) for 2-3 hours within the 5-10pm window.
