Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is hosting free cardiovascular screenings on Friday, October 22 from 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. in Breaux Bridge.
Guests will receive a complimentary electrocardiogram (EKG), Ankle Brachial Index (ABI), and blood pressure screenings. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. An ABI simple, painless exam is used to test the blood flow in the legs to determine risk of vascular disease.
Results will be reviewed on site. Risk factors of vascular disease include family history, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
Registration is required. Please register here for the screening. Call (985) 873-5058 with any questions.
