Texas Rally for Black Migrants - BAJI National Week of Action
Join the Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) on Sunday, October 17th 2021, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm cst, for a Texas Rally for Black Migrants, to uplift the urgent needs to halt deportations, end Title 42 and grant humanitarian parole to Black asylum seekers. The event will feature a vigil, music and cultural performances and a short vigil to commemorate Black migrants as we seek their liberation and fight for their justice.
BAJI will be joined by partners from the Until We’re Free table, a dozen Black leaders, organizers, and allies from around Texas. The event will be attended by Haitian-American communities all over Texas, and many other Black migrant communities.
BAJI, the NAACP, RITA, and ACLUTx and many other organizations will be in attendance. The Texas Rally for Black Migrants will drive a march to Austin from Houston, Dallas, and other Texas cities on Sunday, October 17th at the south lawn of the Capitol. The march will feature Haitian speakers and performers demanding swift action from the government to stop the deportation of Haitian Migrants and the ending of Title 42.
We continue to demand that the Biden administration stop the deportations and expulsions of Haitian and other Black asylum seekers; we ask that Congress pass expansive immigration bills that do not exclude immigrants based on criminality, and that permanent protections are granted to immigrants on temporary statuses like TPS and DACA.
Rally Attendees must wear a face mask and socially distance. More information on speakers will be forthcoming.
