We are opening a sand mine in Conroe, TX that will begin commercial operations around the week of October 18, 2021. Job Description The scale operator is responsible for all facets of the operations of a truck weighing process. The duties include, but are not limited to, weighing trucks, collecting and reviewing manifests and recording all information in a computerized weighing system, and filing. The reporting and filing systems are primarily computerized. The employee will work from general supervision on routine duties with standard policies and procedures. Refers problems and questions to supervisor and is able to work in a high volume and stress environment while staying on task with minimal oversight. Primary Responsibilities Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all inbound and outbound scale transactions. Inspect paperwork and loads for inbound and outbound trucks. Enter all information into computer. Maintain order and housekeeping of scales and scale house. Complete daily reports, maintain logs, spreadsheets and other reports, as assigned. Answer phone courteously and take messages, when appropriate Weigh trucks and write scale tickets. Arrange for and dispatch truck deliveries. Provide customer service by answering questions, assisting customers & vendors, as needed, calculating sand requirements and appropriate pricing. Forward larger and bid type projects to management. Responsible for care and maintenance of computer, printer, scale and phone equipment. Schedule recurring scale calibration as determined by management. Relay messages on the radio or phone, as needed. Primarily in charge of all incoming and outgoing scale house emails. Knowledge of OSHA rules, training practices, first aid and any other rules of safety as applicable to the specific task Keep work area clean and orderly inside the scale house and around the office and scale house. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and Requirements Knowledge and experience working with computerized scale systems and other similar software and equipment. Communication skills to be able to deal with a wide range of customers, vendors, and co-workers. Ability to work independently in a safe and efficient manner and to follow safety policies and procedures. Technical and computer troubleshooting and networking skills are helpful. Must be reliable, on-time or early to every shift and dependable. Must submit to random drug and alcohol testing, as selected, and comply with Company Drug and Alcohol Policy. Preferred Education and Experience Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. One or more years’ experience working with computerized scale software and equipment. One or more year's experience preferred performing scale house operations, general clerical duties and office functions. Pay Rate: This is a full-time position, pay scale ranges from $22 per hour to $25 per hour depending on experience and current OSHA certifications.
