An event centering the healing of Black, Indigenous & People of Color through workshops engaging the Mind, Body and Spirit. Roots of South Los Angeles Wellness Center invites you to be in community as we share space to center the rest, healing and liberation of BIPOC folks in a series of workshops focused on helping ourselves to reconnect to our mind, body and spirit after a year and a half of continual trauma exposure. Our workshops will include BIPOC facilitators that will provide healing and wellness tips and information. Suggested donation for the event is $40-$60 but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please email [email protected] if you would like to request a waived fee ticket(limited tickets available). If you are a white ally, financially privileged or an organization and would like to donate to support BIPOC folx in accessing the event, there is an option to do so under "Ticket." This is a fundraising event that will center Black, Indigenous & POC Wellness. Roots of South LA Wellness Center is a 501c3 nonprofit and 100% of proceeds will support our mission of centering BIPOC mental health & wellness through holistic & traditional practices, education & advocacy. Covid-19 Protocols: Please be advised that this will be an in-person event and in order to keep our community and volunteers safe, we are asking that proof of a negative covid test within the last 72 hours prior to the event be provided at check-in (regardless of vaccine status). COVID test info: https://curative.com/ or https://hummingbirdrx.com/Social distancing protocols will be in place and masks should be worn at all times during the event (except while eating or drinking). Please do not hesitate to contact us you have any questions/concerns.Venue: the event will take place outdoors within an enclosed canopy tent.Parking: there is residential and street Parking on Jefferson Blvd and surrounding areas. Location is also very accessible to Metro Expo (E) Line -exit Farmdale.Workshops Schedule **Please bring your own yoga mat, blanket, pillow, etc. and comfy layered clothes. Some chairs will be available for those needing accomodations.9:00am to 9:45am- Opening Ceremony 10:00am to 10:45am- Soundbath 11:00am to 11:45am- Yoga 12:00pm to 1:00pm- Lunch (on your own) 1:15pm to 2:00pm- Soul Collage Workshop 2:15pm to 3:00pm- Soundbath 3:00pm to 3:30pm- Closing (Please see below for facilitator and workshop description) Facilitators (9:00am to 9:45am) Opening Ceremony Facilitator: Alex Liera Description: Join @alex_purple, founder WOC Sister Collective as she lead us in ceremony to open and hold space collectively. We will ground in our individual and collective intentions, commune with each other through ceremony, song, and sacred fire. (10:00am to 10:45am) Relax, Release, Receive with Sacred Sound Facilitator: Myra Barayang Description: Join @MindfulMorena as she opens up the event by using sacred sound to clear energy and set intention to the day. Focusing on releasing negative and/or stagnant emotions and energies from the body. (11:00am to 11:45am) Kundalani Yoga + Meditation: Connecting To My True Self Facilitator: Karen Mendoza Description: Kundalini Yoga involves movement, breath, hand positions to direct energy, mantras, and meditation to invite healing and awareness. Join @womanoflaluna in releasing physical/mental blocks, building strength, balancing the nervous system, and obtaining clarity. (1:15pm to 2:00pm) Soul Collage©...Discover Your Wisdom. CHANGE THE WORLD! Facilitator: Marilynne Garrison Description: This experience will offer BIPOC participants, a new tool that they may consider using on a regular basis to explore their thoughts and their bodily feelings, and a means to promote healing by helping cultivate a deeper, richer understanding of their relationship with themselves. (2:15pm to 3:00pm) 7 Chakra Crystal Singing Bowl and Gong Sound Journey Facilitator: Zachary Cameron Description: Join @livepulsela as they close out the event centering the rest and wellness of the community by creating a journey of sound healing with the use of a gong, crystal singing bowls and incense. Centering the healing of the community is not a trend of popularity, it is a necessity.
