come pick up litter with CFP & we.grow.eco at Thorpe Park in Flagstaff, then hang out for a potluck cook-out and some disc golf a human named chauncey has decided to walk from Virginia Beach, Virginia to San Francisco, California. his friend noah is driving the support vehicle and helping to coordinate & document the adventures. along the way, they're meeting up with folks in local communities to pick up trash & talk about civic engagement & grassroots organizing. learn more about the project at www.wegroweco.org. COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP: 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday 10/30 we.grow.eco and the Clean Flagstaff Project invite folks in the Flagstaff community to join us on Saturday, October 30th at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Thorpe Park to pick up some litter together. We will gather in the big parking lot by the "bark park" — the address is "788 N Thorpe Road, Flagstaff AZ." based on previous clean-ups here, we will find lots of old broken glass. thick nitrile gloves and work gloves will be available, but bring yours along if you'd like. upon arrival: we will meet in the parking lot by Kevin & Tianna's truck to get outfitted, take a group photo, and have a brief orientation about how the morning will gothen we'll head across the street to the disc golf course, where we'll split into smaller groups"collector" groups will be a given gloves & bags/buckets, & will then spread out in the areaone group will hang back as the "sorters," and as collectors come back with buckets of trash, they will sort by type & brand, then use the One Piece A Day smartphone app to document the litterafter collecting & documenting our litter haul at the beginning of the disc golf course, we will gather together to debrief about this event and how single-use plastic pollution & possible grassroots power-driven solutions**Halloween is that Sunday, so we are inviting folks to wear costumes (something you feel ok picking up trash in, that may get a bit dirty)!** POTLUCK COOK-OUT & DISC GOLF: 2:00 - ~4:00 p.m. once we're done with the litter pick-up portion of the event, we will hang around for a potluck-style cook-out at the park! there are grills near the parking lot, so bring something to eat & drink — we will have charcoal and some veggie sausages. after we eat, we'll play some disc golf on the hopefully cleaner & safer course! PLEASE BRING: a full (reusable) water bottle, and any snacks you may want (we will also have snacks & a water jug)a hat & sunscreen for sun protectionshoes and clothes for potentially-chilly outdoor activities (we may play some disc golf and frisbee when we're done!)a mask, if you are not vaccinated (we have extras, and we'll be outside so we can socially distance)something to grill/eat/drink if you plan to stay for the potluckyour disc golf discs if you plan to stay for a round after the clean-upthere are bathrooms at the Thorpe Park Center building near the parking lot. we look forward to seeing you out there! in solidarity, chauncey & noah
