Here are the top stories today in Spokane: Starting today, The Lands Council will be hosting its 2nd annual SpoCanopy tree planting event across Spokane to bring in more street trees. Volunteers and Lands Council staff will plant street trees in low-income neighborhoods with low tree canopy coverage. The plantings will take place in Spokane's West Central and Northeast areas. The organization said the event aligns with the City of Spokane's goal to have 40 percent canopy coverage by 203o and to plant 200 street trees this year. (KXLY Spokane)Dozens of Marshallese people in eastern Washington who don't have access to dental care will have their teeth examined this week. The Arcora Foundation is working with the group Smile Spokane to bring the foundation's mobile dental unit to the Spokane Tribe Casino in Airway Heights. The Smile Mobile travels to communities all around the state.
