Rehoming 7 month old Aussie

Description

Krewe (named after New Orleans Mardi Gras Krewes) is a 7 month old red Merle Australian Shepherd who is looking for a new home. Krewe is 35lbs, neutered, up to date on immunizations, heartworm, and flea medication. We have had Krewe since he was 3 months old. He is a cuddly, sweet, energetic, beautiful pup. He is crate trained, house trained, knows basic commands (sit, stay, down, off). Unfortunately, Krewe struggles with being reactive toward dogs when he is on a leash. He has never bit another dog, and has never had issues with a dog when off leash, but when on walks, he is extremely reactive (barking, lunging, pulling, growling). Krewe is also very possessive, and recently his possessiveness has increased. For example, when he gets something he shouldn’t have, and we try and remove it from him, he will snap. We have been working hard on “leave it”, but when he has something he really wants, he will not leave it. He recently bit our 9 year old when she was attempting to remove a granola bar wrapper from his mouth. For this reason, we feel like he needs to be in a home without children. We believe with training, and patience, he will be an amazing dog for someone. We are absolutely heartbroken to be doing this, and will be a little choosy about his next home because we truly do want the best for him. He will come with his bed, crate, plenty of food, 12 months worth of heartworm medicine, and all of his toys. I am not asking for a rehoming fee, because I am aware that unless you already know what you are doing, training a dog with these types of issues is a financial commitment. I would like to speak in depth about your lifestyle, and make sure that you understand his behavior problems. You may text or email Allye if you have any questions. Thank you.
