NEW CASSEL, NY — A pedestrian was killed Monday morning after they were hit by a car in New Cassel. According to Nassau County police, a 65-year-old man was driving a gray van in the westbound lanes of Old Country Road at 4:35 a.m. when he hit a pedestrian in the road near Hilton Street. Police say the pedestrian suffered severe traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic. Police have not released any details about the pedestrian. The driver of the van remained at the scene. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
