Description
STAMFORD, CT — Election Day on Nov. 2 is fast approaching, and there are a number of key races on the ballot in Stamford. Patch reached out to candidates for local office to get more information on their campaigns and the issues that are facing the city. Democrat Susan Nabel, 73, is running for Representative District 20, Board of Representatives. Occupation: Office Manager Family: Husband Bill, grown children, graduates of Stamford Public Schools. Experience: Three Terms Board of Education 2000 to 2009 and two Terms Board of Representatives 2013 to present. Family in government: No The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: The single most pressing issue facing Stamford is repairing our infrastructure and preparing it for Stamford to be a 21st century city. We need well-paved roads that will accommodate cars and bicycles and pedestrians; we need sidewalks to make all parts of the city walkable; we need school buildings that are healthy and safe for students and teachers. Critical differences between me and my opponents: I have lived in the 20th District for 36 years and I know its people and the issues that concern them. I have been consistently responsive to constituent calls and emails and have a record of advocacy on their behalf. Accomplishments: I bring experience and a record of accomplishments on behalf of all my constituents: roads paved, bus shelters erected, extended recycling and waste collection service, and traffic signage and monitoring. Other issues: The 20th District is home to many parks. Will focus on their maintenance and find ways to make each of them more activity and family-friendly. What else would you like voters to know about you? I consider myself a public servant whose job is to be a voice for everyone in the district and to make the city services responsive to their issues and problems.
