Description

SILVER SPRING, MD — Expect some slowdowns on Sligo Creek Parkway for the next month, as crews work to remove 87 trees that are either dead or dying along the side of the road. Those trees have been identified as safety hazards and the work to remove them is expected to take about a month, beginning Oct. 11. The tree removal will be Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There could be lane closures throughout the course of the project. The only day a section closure is expected is on Thursday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Maple Avenue and Piney Branch Road, if the weather cooperates. Sligo Creek Trail is expected to stay open for the duration of the work, with the possibility of some minor closures. REMINDER Our crews begin removing dead or dying trees along Sligo Creek Parkway starting Monday, October 11. Work for the four-week project takes place Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 3 pm.
