John Cronin started John’s Crazy Socks with a mission to spread happiness. And that’s just what he did when he delivered gift bags with his socks and candy to the young patients at Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center. “I know it is hard for children to be in the hospital. I want them to get better, I want them to feel happy,” said John as he hand-delivered the socks. The sock delivery was part of John’s Crazy Socks sponsorship for the Gold Together Campaign to fight pediatric cancer. John also delivered socks to the patients at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago. The Gold Together movement was created by childhood brain cancer survivor Cole Eicher. His vision is to raise childhood cancer awareness, support families facing childhood cancer, and connect those families to a lifetime of resources through the American Cancer Society. John met with Cole and committed to creating Gold Together Socks that raise awareness about pediatric cancer and funds for the American Cancer Society. Cole said, “I love the Gold Together socks, they are so cool and will make a difference in our campaign.” John’s Crazy Socks has made a commitment to support the Gold Together Campaign. The profits from the Gold Together Socks go to the American Cancer Society. Customers can convert their Loyalty and Reward points into a donation to the Gold Together Campaign and can make an additional donation to the American Cancer Society when purchasing socks. Amy Threesfeld, Director of Corporate Relations said, “It is an honor to witness the happiness John brings to others and genuineness of giving from his heart.” John’s co-founder and father, Mark X. Cronin, explains, “While John has fortunately not had cancer, he was very sick as a young child and spent weeks in the intensive care unit while undergoing major surgery. We understand what that can be like for a young patient and his or her family. Cole’s idea to start the Gold Together Campaign inspired us to do all we can to support his efforts.” John Cronin said, “I want my socks to make a difference. They are great socks. They will make you feel good. And they raise money for a good cause.” About John’s Crazy Socks John’s Crazy Socks was inspired by John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome, and his love of colorful and fun socks—what he calls his “crazy socks.” He and his father, Mark X. Cronin, started the company as a social enterprise with a mission to spread happiness. They spread happiness by offering the socks you can love that let you express yourself, by giving back, by creating jobs for people with differing abilities and spreading happiness.
