High: 55 Low: 39. Here are the top stories in Salt Lake City today: A person fell to their death while rock climbing Sunday afternoon in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Unified Police received a call reporting a fallen climber around 1:15 p.m. UPD Sgt. Melody Cutler said the climber was scaling a rock face near Gate Buttress, and a rock they grabbed onto came loose. They fell an unknown distance and died from their injuries. (fox13now.com)West Valley City officials said a teen would likely not be charged after firing into his vehicle after it was stolen. Lt. Sean McCarthy from the West Valley City Police Department said officers responded to an address near 2500 S Lake Park Circle after a call for shots fired. They arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m. Saturday and found the 16-year-old who was cooperating with investigators. Officials said the teen was not taken into custody after their initial investigation determined he fired in self-defense.(KUTV 2News) 22-year-old West Valley City man died after his vehicle lost control and hit a tree early Sunday, West Jordan police said.
