CONNECTICUT — McDonald's thinks Connecticut educators "deserve a break today." Local teachers and school staff can fuel up in the morning for free at McDonald's this week as the fast food giant will be giving away free breakfast and coffee for staff through Friday. Teachers and school staff can receive a free breakfast item (Egg McMuffin, a Sausage Biscuit, or a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit), a side of hash browns and a drink (medium hot or iced coffee, iced tea, or soda). The offer is valid for walk-up or drive-thru orders with the presentation of a work ID from Oct. 11 to 15. Menu items may vary by location. Complimentary meals will be presented in a Happy Meal box. However, instead of a toy, staff will receive a thank-you note. The fast food chain is also asking its non-teaching customers to contribute by sharing a story of how one special educator has made a difference in their lives. Twitter, TikTok and Instagram users to share their stories online using #ThankYouMeal. The messages could end up being shared on McDonald's own social channels, or as part of a surprise breakfast delivery to the teacher's school. The program is McDonald's "first big national thank you gesture" for educators, said Jennifer "JJ" Healan, McDonald's vice president of marketing, brand content and engagement, in an interview with USA TODAY. "We wanted to build on that idea and thank our educators in our communities for all that they've been doing and what they do really every day," Healan said.
