Here are the top stories in Des Moines today: West Des Moines man, Brian Brown, was working from home Monday when he heard a crash at about 10:30 a.m. outside his home. He found his SUV that was parked outside his garage was now inside his garage parked sideways. It had been hit by a minivan that was traveling east on Ashworth Road at 42nd Street, before crossing traffic, barreling through the front yard of a church, and crashing into Brown's vehicle. The driver of the van was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. (KCCI Des Moines)A child caregiver is under arrest in connection with a baby's death. Court records show that Nicole Ghee was caring for a 2-month-old girl when the infant died in April of 2020. Des Moines police believe exposure to drugs may have played a role in the girl's death.
